It was a tough road trip Thursday for the Hillcrest Academy baseball and softball teams when they traveled to Mediapolis. The Raven baseballers were beaten by a 6-2 score. The final difference on the board came in the first inning when the Bulldogs put up a four spot. The Ravens got on the board in the third with a single run to pull within 4-1, MEPO pushed across two in the bottom of the fourth to grow the lead to 6-1. Hillcrest got one more in the fifth, but could not threaten with a comeback. London Schrock led Hillcrest at the plate with two hits and two RBI. Eli Ours took the loss on the mound going six innings, giving up nine hits, six runs, only three were earned, walking two and striking out six.

The Raven softball team was beaten by MEPO 18-8. The Bullettes put up an eight run first to take a commanding lead early. Hillcrest came back with three runs in the third to get within 8-3 before Mediapolis made it 12-3 in the bottom half. Two more Hillcrest runs went up on the board in the fourth, only to see MEPO put up three in the bottom half to lead 15-5. The Ravens scored once in the fifth and twice in the sixth, but a three run Mediapolis sixth inning ended the contest early. MEPO finished the game with 15 hits and eight walks. The Raven offense put up eight hits and four walks in their highest run output of the season. Malia Yoder, Sarah Miller and Madeline Fox each had two hits, Yoder and Miller each drove in one. Leah Bontrager took the loss in the circle, going five and a third innings, giving up 13 hits, eight earned runs, walking six and striking out six. The Raven girls are now 0-4 on the year. The Hillcrest boys and girls host Pekin Friday.
