summer-classic-2021

New and returning activities can be enjoyed during the Washington Summer Classic for today’s Family Day.

The fun begins with a free swim at the Steele Family Aquatic Center from 1-7 p.m. with a maximum capacity of 175 people. Washington Chamber of Commerce Event Coordinator Alisha Davis shares what else will be happening in the downtown square, “From 4-8 [p.m.] Friday night we’ll have YMCA activities, a photo booth, face painting, touch-a-truck where kids can explore like ambulance and firetruck and police cars and then of course pony rides. I mean, you gotta have pony rides.”

Davis is also excited for new programming being offered by CityPoint Church from 5-8 p.m. where they will be providing live music, activities, and games at the Central Park bandstand. The final event will be Movies on Main Street with a showing of “The Big Green” at 8:30 p.m. and free popcorn offered. KCII will be broadcasting live from the Big Red Radio in Central Park from 4-8 p.m.
