Back-to-back road trips were kind to the Lone Tree baseball team on Wednesday and Thursday when they picked up a pair of victories.
The Lions traveled to West Branch (0-6) on Wednesday and pulled away for a 14-8 win. Trailing 6-4 in the fourth, Lone Tree rattled off nine runs in the next three frames to pull out the non-conference win. Aiden Forbes went 2-for-4 at the dish with four RBI and Cade Patterson brought in three runs. Adam Knock was plated five times. Gavin Pourroy tossed 3 1/3 innings on the hill giving up two runs on three hits and striking out three.
They turned around the next day and defeated Southeast Iowa Super Conference foe Louisa-Muscatine by a 9-5 tally. Alex Viner went 2-for-4 with one RBI and he came around to score three times. Cade Shield threw 6 1/3 innings without giving up an earned run on just four hits and striking out nine. The win improved Lone Tree’s record to 2-3.
The Lion softball team had a hard time getting anything going against the #3 ranked Falcons (3-2) by falling 8-0. Lone Tree moved to 4-3 on the season.
