summer-classic-2021

It’s the final day of the Washington Summer Classic, with a combined Ridiculous/Ag Day happening in the downtown square.

Events this afternoon include a modern ag display from 1-5 p.m, the Optimist Club recovered bicycle auction, kiddie tractor pull, and ridiculous princess and superhero contests. The antique tractor parade will begin at the county fairgrounds at 4 p.m. to then join with the Ridiculous Parade downtown at 5:30 p.m. The day will conclude with live music from Mike Whittaker & Friends at 5:30 p.m. and The Big Band Theory at 7:30 p.m.

Washington Chamber of Commerce Event Coordinator Alisha Davis explains that a couple Summer Classic traditions will be happening later this year, “So our Flightline Live event is moving to September 11th and the Latino Festival is moving to September 25th. So we just decided those events are really big and we wanted to make sure we were safe and move them to the fall and we’ll see how it goes, but I think it’ll be nice to kind of spread it out and have not everything packed into one weekend and have something to look forward to in the fall.”

The KCII Big Red Radio will be playing music and broadcasting live from 2-6:30 p.m. at the Summer Classic today as part of our Summer Town Tour.
