Last week the Mount Pleasant Police Department shut down a credit card skimming operation at a Henry County gas station. Three skimming devices were seized from the pumps and local banks were contacted. The banks are cooperating with law enforcement to track down illegal transactions. 

After an investigation, a search warrant was executed at 705 S. Sheridan Street in Ottumwa. At that address a credit card reader, notes with card numbers and three illegally purchased gift cards were located. Two suspects were arrested, 35-year-old Erlian A. Gonzalez and 56-year-old Juan M Almenares both of Ottumwa, formerly of Miami, Florida. They have been charged with ongoing criminal conduct, a Class B felony and illegal use of a scanning device, a Class D felony. More charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing. Both are being held at the Henry County Jail pending arraignment.
