The Keota Eagle baseball and softball teams took the diamond in South Iowa Cedar League play Friday against BGM. The Eagle boys came alive late, to erase an early deficit and beat the Bears 7-4. BGM jumped out to a 4-0 lead with single runs in the first and second and two in the third. Trailing by four, Keota scored in every inning from the fourth on with a pair in the fourth, one in the fifth and two each in the sixth and seventh to complete the comeback. Sam Sieren led the Eagle offense with three hits. Brady Duwa drove in two, Colten Clarahan and Carson Sprouse each drove in one. Sprouse recorded the complete game win, giving up five hits, four runs, walking three and striking out six. The Eagles are now 6-3, BGM falls to 2-7.
The Eagle girls stayed winless, falling to the Bears in a slugfest 16-6. It was Keota that struck first with two in the top of the first, and one more in the third to build a 3-0 lead. BGM then turned it on with three in the third, three more in the fourth, four in the fifth and six runs in the sixth inning. Keota would get their final three runs all in the fifth. Keota is now 0-7 on the year, the Eagles are at Colfax-Mingo Monday.
