Traveling to New Sharon was on the docket for the Sigourney summer teams on Friday and the Savages picked up a pair of South Iowa Cedar League victories.
The baseball team continued to roll with their sixth straight win in a 5-2 final. Levi Crawford led the offense with a 3-for-4 night while Cade Streigle and Bo Schmidt each brought in a pair of runs. Streigle got the win on the hill tossing 4 1/3 innings of two run ball giving up five hits and three walks. The team improves to 8-1 overall and 6-0 in league play.
The softball team piled on late for an 8-1 win over the Warhawks. Carly Goodwin was the story in the circle throwing a complete game giving up just four hits, one run, and striking out 13 batters. Kaylee Weber went 4-for-4 at the dish with two RBI and Macy Fisch brought in three. The Savages turned around and traveled to Eddyville-Blakesburg on Saturday for a tournament where they went 1-2. They defeated PCM 3-0, but lost to the Rockets 13-1 and Davis County 10-3. Goodwin was sensational in the Mustang win by throwing a six inning no hitter with three walks and 12 strikeouts. Jo Moore went 3-for-3 and crossed the plate twice. Sigourney is now 9-6 and 5-1 in the SICL.
