It was round two on the diamond for the Highland and Lone Tree summer teams last night and the result was similar to the first meeting with the Huskies capping off a season sweep of their area rival.
The Huskie softball team had three different crooked number innings and never looked back in a 13-1 victory in five innings. The team had 11 hits led by Grace Batcheller going 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBI. Jenna Sands had a single, double, and brought in three runs. Abbi Stransky and Grace Prybil each crossed the plate three times. Batcheller recorded the win throwing all five frames giving up one run on four hits and no walks. Highland improves to 14-2 and Lone Tree is now 7-10.
The road Huskies scored twice in the first of the baseball game and kept piling on to an 8-0 win. Highland took nine free passes and had six hits led by Logan Bonebrake going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Chase Schultz also brought in a pair of tallies. Bryce Thompson, Connor Grinstead, and Peyton Yeggy tossed a combined one hitter with Grinstead retiring all 10 batters he faced including five strikeouts. The Huskies are now 10-3 and the Lions drop to 7-6.
