sigourney

A trip west to Pleasantville was a success for the Sigourney summer teams last night, as they left town with a pair of wins.

The Savage softball squad trailed 1-0 for most of the contest, but a four spot in the fifth was all they needed in the 5-2 non-conference victory over the Trojans (9-14). Fresh off of back-to-back no hitters, Carly Goodwin had another strong outing in the circle by throwing a complete game giving up two runs on three hits and striking out six. The freshman also led the bats going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Courtney Hemsley, Jo Moore, and Kaylee Weber finished with a pair of knocks. Sigourney improves to 11-6 overall.

The baseball team put up 13 runs for the second straight night and downed Pleasantville (7-12) by a score of 13-9. The Savages scored in each of the first four innings including plating seven in the first to keep the Trojans at arm’s length the whole game. Reid Molyneux tossed a couple innings on the hill to record the win and Jake Moore threw the final 4 2/3 frames. The team improves to 10-1.

Both squads travel to HLV tonight.
