The busy week continues for the Mid-Prairie baseball and softball teams tonight when they meet the Bellevue Comets in River Valley Conference action. The Golden Hawk baseball team is 10-4 on the year after being swept by matching 5-2 scores at No. 12 Eddyville-Blakesburg on Wednesday. Mid-Prairie is ranked No. 3 in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. On the season the Hawks are hitting .370 as a team, best in class 2A with an overall ERA of 4.34. Individually, Mid-Prairie has five players in their lineup hitting over .400 in Keegan Gingerich, Cain Brown, Karson Grout, Kayden Reinier and Aidan Rath. Grout, Reinier and Rath are all over .500 with Rath leading the way at .526. He has a team best 22 RBI and is leading class 2A with seven homers. On the mound, Alex Bean, Collin Miller and Brown are all unbeaten with Rath leading the way with an ERA under one.

Bellevue is 2-9 on the year. They were swept Monday at Monticello by 16-1 and 5-4 scores. For the year the Comets are batting .226 as a team with an ERA of 8.54. Individually, Bellevue is led by Alex Pitts with a .367 average. On the mound Chris Klein and Nick Deppe each have one win with an overall combined record of 2-3 in 32 innings with a 6.40 ERA. These two teams met a season ago with Mid-Prairie squeaking out a 6-5 win. Bellevue has won three of the five all-time matchups.

The Mid-Prairie softball team enters with a 3-17 record on the season after dropping two tough games Wednesday at No. 5 Eddyville-Blakesburg by 6-2 and 3-2 scores. This season, Mid-Prairie is hitting .328, 10th best in class 3A. The Hawks have a 7.48 staff ERA. Individually, Mid-Prairie is led by Myah Lugar with a .417 average and a team best 25 hits. Katelyn Schneider has driven in 16. In the circle, Lugar has worked 94 innings with a 3-11 record and 7.07 ERA.

Bellevue comes into the night with a record of 2-11. The Comets were swept in a doubleheader at Monticello Monday by scores of 12-0 and 14-1. On the year the Comets are hitting .289 as a team with an ERA of 12.23. Individually, Bellevue is led by Morgan Meyer and Jami Portz each hitting .417. Erin Sprank has thrown 34 innings to lead the staff with an 11 ERA. Gretta Marshall has a team best 3.00 ERA. The Hawks have won five of six in the series including an 8-1 victory a season ago. Action in the varsity contests starts tonight at 7p.m. at Mount Mercy in Cedar Rapids.
