The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball and softball teams will entertain the Lone Tree boys and girls tonight in Kalona. The Raven baseball team enters play with a 4-5 overall record. They have been off since a 14-4 loss to New London on Friday. On the year, the Ravens are hitting .308 as a team with an ERA of 4.93. Individually, Hillcrest is led by London Schrock with a .441 average and a team best 18 RBI and 15 total hits. Schrock, Seth Ours, Eli Ours and Liam Schrock have all recorded wins on the hill for the Ravens.
Lone Tree is 7-6 overall. They were shut out by Highland 8-0 on Tuesday. For the year, the Lions are hitting .241 as a team with an ERA of 8.04 as a group. Individually, top hitter for the Lions is Alex Viner with a .333 average, 18 runs scored and 12 total hits. On the mound, Gavin Pourroy and Cade Shield are both 3-0 with 7.41 and 4.50 ERAs respectively. Will Kleckner has the best ERA on the team at 2.15 in 13 innings. The Lions swept a doubleheader from the Ravens last year by 14-13 and 10-7 scores. Hillcrest has won four of the last six in the series.
The Raven softball team comes into the night looking for their first win of the year at 0-8. They were last in action Thursday when they were beaten 12-0 in three innings at Columbus. For the season, Hillcrest is hitting .223 as a team with a 12.68 staff ERA. Individually, Madeline Fox is hitting .357, Yani Gutierrez has driven in three. Leah Bontrager has worked 35 innings with an 0-8 record and 12.80 ERA.
Lone Tree is 7-11 on the year. They were beaten last night by Danville 8-7. For the season, the Lions are hitting .303 collectively with a 2.87 ERA. Individually, Lone Tree is led by Arlie Lorack with a .429 average, 18 hits and 18RBI with three homers. In the circle it’s Lorack with a 5-6 record in 62 innings with a 3.02 mark for the year. These two teams met just before Memorial Day in Lone Tree with the Lions winning 12-0 in four innings. Lone Tree has won 10 of the last 12 in the series.
