Just after 4p.m. Friday, an explosion was reported to the Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office at 18278 Highway 92, Sigourney. As a result, 60-year-old Patrick Otte and three minors, aged 14, 11 and eight were transported to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City with severe burns. Responding to the scene were the Sigourney Fire Department, Keokuk County Ambulance, University of Iowa Aircare, and Mercy One air ambulance. The cause of the explosion is under investigation by the Iowa State Fire Marshall’s Office, FBI and the Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
