A Burlington man has been sentenced to federal prison following an investigation that involved several law enforcement agencies in the KCII-listening area.

U.S. District Court Chief Judge John A. Jarvey sentenced 37-year-old Lamar Harris on June 11th to 210 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Richard D. Westphal. Harris is ordered to serve four years of supervised release to follow his prison term and pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.

He was found to have been involved in a long-standing conspiracy to distribute significant quantities of controlled substances dating back to 2011. Harris has a history of violence and had two prior felony drug convictions. He was one of eight defendants who faced federal charges in the Southern District of Iowa after a multiyear joint federal and state investigation which culminated in the execution of several search warrants in various locations, including Harris’ arrest in November of 2019. Numerous agencies assisted in this investigation across Iowa and Illinois, including the Washington, Henry, and Louisa county sheriff’s offices and Mount Pleasant Police Department.
