It was a tough day at the office for the Keota summer teams on Friday when they welcomed HLV for a South Iowa Cedar League matchup and both squads lost by the mercy rule.

Fresh off of an impressive 8-0 win over conference leader Sigourney the night prior, the Eagle baseball team ran out of gas to close the week and lost 16-1 in five innings. The Warriors (5-6) scored in every frame and peppered 11 hits on the evening. Carson Sprouse went 2-for-3 with a run scored to lead the Eagle offense. Luke Hammen tossed one inning giving up four earned runs on three hits and Cole Kindred threw 2 2/3 frames giving up two earned tallies on four knocks. Keota drops to 8-5 on the season.

The Eagle softball team gave up 10 runs in the second and found themselves in a similar situation losing 16-2 in four innings. Every Warrior (4-9) batter hit safely finishing with 16 on the night. Keota is now 0-11.
