The Hillcrest Academy baseball and softball teams will be in Letts tonight to meet the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons in a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader. The Raven baseball team enters action with a 7-5 overall record. Hillcrest has won three straight inlcuding a sweep of their Saturday tournament, knocking off English Valleys 8-3 and Keokuk 11-1 in just five innings. On the year, Hillcrest is hitting .344 as a team with a staff ERA of 4.12. Individually, the Ravens are led by Luke Schrock at the plate with a .500 average and 21 hits. London Schrock has a team best 18RBI. On the hill, Seth Ours and Liam Schrock are a combined 3-0 with Ours ERA at just 0.70. Eli Ours has thrown a team high 19 innings with a 2.95 ERA and 2-1 record.
Louisa-Muscatine is 6-8 on the season. They fell to Danville Friday 5-4. On the year the Falcons are hitting .333 as a team with an overall ERA of 3.47. Individually, the Falcons are led by Jared Woerly with a .595 average, 25 hits and 18RBI. He’s also the best on the mound with a 3-1 record and 1.94 ERA across 21 innings. These two teams met in Kalona on the first day of June with the Falcons taking a 5-4 win.
The Hillcrest softball team faces a tall task when they meet Louisa-Muscatine tonight. The Ravens are 0-12 after dropping two games Saturday against Columbus and Danville in their annual tournament. For the year Hillcrest is hitting .294 with an ERA of 9.93. Individually, the Ravens are led by Madeline Fox hitting .407, and in the circle it’s Leah Bontrager with 52 innings worked, an 0-11 record and an 11.04 ERA.
Louisa-Muscatine is ranked third in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. They have a 12-7 overall record, beating Danville Friday 10-0. For the year, the Falcons are hitting .341 as a team with an ERA of 2.19. L-M is led by Kylee Sanders with a .698 average, best in 2A and 19 RBI. In the circle, Sanders has a 5-4 record in 48 innings with a 0.86 ERA. The Falcons have won 15 in a row in the series with the last Hillcrest win coming in 2009. Action starts with game one of a doubleheader tonight at 5:30p.m. at Louisa-Muscatine High School.
