The win that got them to double-digits on the season was a signature one for the Columbus Community softball team when they invaded Winfield last night and stunned the home crowd with a come from behind 2-1 victory.

The Wolves struck first by plating a run in the second and that 1-0 score stayed true until the seventh when Lela Fort came through in the clutch with a double that plated Emma Milder and Sera Vela. Lily Coil did the rest in the circle by closing the game out for the Wildcats first win over the Wolves since 2016. Coil twirled a complete game giving up one run on three hits and striking out three. The eighth grader also recorded a pair of doubles offensively and Milder went 2-for-4. Madie Anderson took the loss for WMU with seven innings pitched giving up two runs on six hits and striking out 16. The three singles from the Wolves were from Anderson, Carlee Sloan, and Keely Malone.

Columbus improves to 10-14 overall, 7-7 in the SEISC and Winfield-Mt. Union is now 14-4, 10-3 in the league.
