A cross over Southeast Iowa Super Conference matchup in Donnellson on Wednesday was not kind to the Lone Tree boys and girls of summer when they fell in a pair of games to Central Lee.
The Lion baseball squad soared out to a 5-0 lead in the first only to have the Hawks (8-8) answer back with 15 runs in the next three innings that paved the way for a 17-7 final in five frames. Central Lee had 13 hits on the evening compared to Lone Tree’s seven and they were led by Adam Knock going 2-for-3. Cade Shield, Aiden Forbes, and Will Kleckner each brought in a pair of tallies. Gavin Pourroy took the loss on the hill giving up nine runs on five hits in 1 1/3 innings of work. Will Kleckner tossed 3 1/3 frames giving up six earned runs on eight hits. Lone Tree is now 7-10 overall and 5-7 in the SEISC.
The Lion softball team could not keep up against the Hawks (13-7) and lost 13-2. Lone Tree is now 8-13 overall and 4-8 in the league.
