Washington County families who need some help in enjoying the Fourth of July holiday can still register for a free meal kit program hosted by Washington for Justice.
This is the last day to sign up for a kit that will include ingredients to make a traditional or Latinx-style Fourth of July meal for four, and it’s the final opportunity for the public to give a suggested $25 monetary donation to help provide these meals for families in need. Washington for Justice Director Meredith Henderson says they are also looking for some volunteers to help distribute the kits from noon-7 p.m. this Wednesday, “So we need help picking up the meal kits from the different stores, Fareway and La Morenita. We need help with deliveries, we want somebody to staff the table for walk-ins, all kinds of things we need help with.”
The organization anticipates giving out 25-30 kits for the holiday, which follows a similar initiative they held last December that gave around 60 meal kits to those around Washington County.
