The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team is back at the friendly confines of Carr, Vincent, Gould Field in Kalona Tuesday when they welcome rival Iowa City Regina. The Hawks come in with an overall record of 8-25 after a 12-1 and 6-0 doubleheader sweep of the Tigers in Tipton Monday. For the year, the Hawks are hitting .312 as a team with a staff ERA of 6.63. Individually, Mid-Prairie is led by Katelyn Schneider at .362 with a team best 24 RBI. In the circle, senior Myah Lugar has thrown 137 innings with a 6-17 record and 6.34 ERA.
Iowa City Regina comes into the night with a mark of 13-10 overall. The Regals were swept in a pair of tight contests at No. 2 Wilton Monday 5-4 and 2-1. For the season Regina is hitting .283 with a staff ERA of 2.74. The Regals are led individually by Courtney Kessler with a .660 average including 35 hits, 22 RBI and 20 runs scored. In the circle, Emma Nibaur is 11-7 in 111 innings with a 2.01 ERA. These two teams met once a season ago with the Regals winning 7-3. Regina has won eight of the last nine. It’s also senior night in Kalona and Mid-Prairie will honor their lone senior Myah Lugar.
