The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams travel to Northeast Iowa tonight to take on the Northeast Goose Lake Rebels in River Valley Conference action. The Mid-Prairie baseball team comes into the day with a record of 15-5, they are 12-3, first place in the River Valley South after sweeping Tipton Monday by 9-1 and 7-2 scores. On the season, the Hawks are hitting .351 as a team, third in 2A with an ERA of 3.61. Individually, Mid-Prairie is led by Aidan Rath with a .484 average on 31 hits, 29 RBI and nine homers. On the mound, Alex Bean, Collin Miller and Cain Brown are a combined 5-0. Rath is 3-1 with a 1.20 ERA in a team high 23 innings.
Northeast Goose Lake is 8-12 on the year, 7-9 in the River Valley North. They split a doubleheader with Camanche Monday, taking game one 3-0 and dropping the second 5-1. On the year, the Rebels are hitting .304 as a team with a staff ERA of 4.24. Individually, they are led by Kael Parson with a .397 average at the plate with 25 hits, 13 runs scored and eight RBI. On the mound, Cade Hughes and Jimmy Weisphennig are a combined 4-0 with a 0.73 ERA. These two teams met a season ago with the Hawks winning 10-0. Norhteast has won five of the last seven in the series.
The Mid-Prairie softball team enters action with a 9-28 mark after they were swept Wednesday by Washington on the road 4-1 and 15-5. On the year, Mid-Prairie is hitting .311 as a team with an ERA of 6.45. Individually, they are led by Dakota Mitchell with a .376 average on 35 hits, 20 runs scored and 19RBI. In the circle, Myah Lugar has thrown 144 innings with a 6-18 record and 6.32 ERA.
Northeast Goose Lake is 20-13 on the season. They were 6-0 winners over Maquoketa Wednesday. The Lady Rebels are ranked No. 14 in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. On the season they are hitting .378 as a team with a collective ERA of 4.41. Individually, they are led by Emma Kjergaard with a .495 average on 47 hits, 32 runs scored and 25 RBI. In the circle it’s Haleigh Banowetz with a 7-1 record and 4.01 ERA. These teams met a season ago with Northeast getting an 11-0 win. The Rebels have won four straight in the series. Both games start at 7p.m. tonight in Goose Lake.
