It was a pair of one run victories for the Highland summer teams on Wednesday when they welcomed Pekin for a makeup Southeast Iowa Super Conference showdown.

The baseball game picked up in the fourth inning from a previously suspended contest with the Huskies up 9-4. The Panthers (12-8) scored six unanswered last night and held a 10-9 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh when Highland plated two for the walk off win. The offense had seven hits and recorded 11 free passes. Trevor McFarland went 3-for-4 with four RBI and Logan Bonebrake brought in three from a pair of hits. Ethan Paisley tossed 5 1/3 frames giving up six runs on seven hits and striking out 11. Chase Schultz recorded the win in 2/3 innings of work. Highland remains one game back of the north division lead with an 11-3 conference mark and 13-7 overall. Mediapolis leads with a 12-2 record with two conference games remaining. 

The Highland softball team recorded one run in the first, second, and fourth that proved to be all they needed in a 3-2 win over Pekin (8-16). Katelyn Waters was 2-for-2 while Sarah Burton and Abbi Stransky each brought in a run. Jessica Kraus twirled 6 1/3 innings of two run ball (one earned) on three hits and walking one. The Huskies are in a tie for third with an 11-4 league mark and 17-6 overall.
