Three schools came together for two Southeast Iowa Superconference softball contests Wednesday afternoon in Kalona when the Hillcrest Ravens hosted the New London Tigers and Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves. The day started with the Ravens taking on New London and falling 15-1 in four innings. The Tigers scored four times in the first, seven times in the third and four more times in the fourth. The Ravens got their lone tally in the first when Madeline Fox came home on a Malia Yoder RBI single. The Tigers outhit the Ravens 13-3. Leah Bontrager took the loss in the circle working four innings.
In game two, area school Winfield-Mt. Union shut out Hillcrest 6-0. The No. 13 Wolves got two runs in the first, three in the third and added another in the sixth. Anna Anderson had two hits and drove in a pair, Melina Oepping also drove in two. Carlee Sloan had a pair of hits and an RBI. In the circle the all-stater Madie Anderson was on her game, going the distance, striking out 13 with one walk and allowing just two hits. Meredith Blossom and Evelyn Gerber each had a hit for the Hillcrest offense. The Ravens are now 0-20 on the year, the Wolves stand at 15-5.
