Hanging tough was what the Winfield-Mt. Union baseball team did on Wednesday against West Burlington in a Southeast Super Conference cross over game, but the home Falcons prevailed 5-1.
The Wolves recorded eight hits on the evening led by Jacob Ford going 3-for-4 with a run scored. Cole Milks had a double and walk while Nick Crow brought in a tally. Crow tossed 4 1/3 innings on the hill giving up five runs (three earned) on seven hits and striking out two.
WMU dropped to 2-19 on the season while the Falcons improve to 11-9.
