Peaking at the right time may be the case for the Highland softball team, as they closed the regular season last week with three victories.

On Thursday, they hosted Holy Trinity (6-15) for a conference cross over game and exploded for an 11-0 win. The offense had 10 hits led by Abbi Stransky going 2-for-3 with three RBI and Grace Batcheller tossed all five shutout frames giving up four hits and just one walk. The team turned around the next day to travel to Lisbon for a tournament where they beat Belle Plaine 5-2 and North Fayette Valley 14-0. Against the Plainsmen (13-16) the Huskies were led by Batcheller going 3-for-3 with two RBI while Payton Brun added three knocks and one run driven in. Jessica Kraus got the win on the rubber twirling all seven frames giving up two runs on 10 hits and striking out four. The six run third and eight run fourth against the TigerHawks was steamrolled by Brun bringing in four on a pair of hits. Batcheller brought in three more in the victory. The junior gave up just three hits in the circle without walking a batter.

Highland closes the regular season with a 20-6 mark, and third in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division with an 11-4 league record. They open regionals on Wednesday hosting either Lone Tree or Holy Trinity in the second round.
