A Mount Pleasant woman is now Iowa’s 11th big winner in the Lucky For Life drawing game.

Fifty-eight year-old Deb Perrot won her prize in Monday night’s drawing. She found out the news after she woke up at 1:30 a.m. to check her tickets. Both her and her husband, Greg, were in disbelief and traveled to a local convenience store to check. While at work on Tuesday, Perrot told her boss but wanted to keep it a secret until she could claim the prize. Perrot works at a mail management company and described that day at work as the longest day ever.

Lucky For Life has drawings twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. The game’s top two prize levels are described as “lasting as long as you do” and has a guaranteed payout of at least 20 years. Perrot decided to receive her winnings in annual payments of $25,000. Her immediate plans to celebrate include buying lunch for her husband and taking a trip or two. The biggest impact will come later down the road, “I may just leave my money that’s in my retirement account, in my retirement account and use this instead.”

Perrot’s winning ticket was purchased at Gas Land Express in Mount Pleasant. The business will receive a $500 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
