An already storied prep career got even more decorated on Thursday for Winfield-Mt. Union’s Madie Anderson, as the senior all state hurler tossed a perfect game to lead the Wolves past Lone Tree 3-0 on the road.

The five year starter flirted with numerous no-hitters this year and finally broke through by one upping that accomplishment and sending down every batter she faced in the seven inning affair. The defense practically got the night off with a remarkable 20 out of 21 batters being retired by strikeout. The offense plated two in the first and tacked on another in the fourth that proved to be more than enough. Anna Anderson went 2-for-3 with one RBI while Jobey Malone and Melina Oepping also brought in runs. WMU improved to 16-5 and Lone Tree dropped to 9-15.

The baseball game was a wild one with Lone Tree prevailing 11-10 in eight frames. The seesaw battle was tied at 7-7 after seven when the Wolves crossed the plate three times in the top of the eighth only to have the Lions rally with four in the bottom half for the walk off victory. Tyler Bell went 3-for-5 with two RBI and Cade Shield also drove in two. Gavin Pourroy tossed 5 1/3 frames giving up five runs on six hits. The Lions are now 8-11 and the Wolves fall to 2-20.
