Thursday night, Sigourney head coach Shelly Striegel talked about her team’s win against English Valleys and getting for North Mahaska. “I think that Goodwin was really hitting her targets well tonight. She was incredible, she did everything she could for the team. Macy Fisch did a nice job driving in the run and Amiya Smallwood did a nice job running the bases and taking advantage. Experience helps this team but their mental toughness is also key. They depend on each other. Maddie McKay for New Sharon is a good pitcher. She does a good job in the circle. So we need to keep our heads down and hit the ball.”
These two teams met on June 11th with the Savages taking an 8-1 win in New Sharon. Sigourney was keyed in the win by a Kaylee Weber home run and three RBI from Macy Fisch and two each from Raegan Rozenboom and Weber to go along with a complete game 13 strikeout performance in the circle from Carly Goodwin.
