From pickup trucks to limousines and everything in between, a Washington couple is inviting the community to bring out their favorite transportation for an event happening next weekend.

Charla and Steve Howard are hosting what’s hoped to be an inaugural cruise event through Washington on Saturday, July 17th. The Howards encourage participants to first dine locally at one of Washington’s restaurants and then head over to the Walmart parking lot at 8 p.m. where the cruise will begin. Charla shares why she wants to host this event, “This past winter when we were all kind of cooped up inside my husband and I were just talking one night casually and I said, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun if we could just go back to what we used to do when we were kids?’ And when I say kids I mean, teenagers, 20 somethings, we would always make a trip to Washington, Iowa and we would cruise the four lanes. So I said, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun if we could just do like a cruise night and just have it where people of any age, any type of vehicle could come out and just get together and have a good time together.’”

There will be prizes given for different types of vehicles presented, costumes, and more. After prizes are awarded motorists are encouraged to cruise back and forth on East Washington Street for as long as they desire. In case of rain the event will be moved to July 24th.
