After restricting events to just the 4-H and FFA exhibitors last year, the Washington County Fair is ready to welcome the public back for a week of entertainment July 18-23.
At the grandstand there will be a garden tractor pull and a sanctioned tractor-truck pull, Grand River Rodeo, demolition derby, motocross, and Lew-e’s Comedy Circus. New entertainment includes the Axe Women who will be doing shows Monday through Thursday, and returning attractions include the Tunnel to Towers Foundation 9/11 Memorial Exhibit open Sunday through Tuesday.
With illusionists, an escape room, a barbecue cook off, pie-eating contest, and much more, Fair Board Secretary Tina Montz says they try to have something entertaining for everyone. Montz shares how the board is feeling about going back to a typical fair schedule, “We’re ready. We’ve got a bunch of hand sanitizer stations that we’ll have set up around the grounds, and then the plus side is we’re kind of outside. So there’s plenty of room for people to spread out and those sorts of things. It was at least for me, I kind of felt like we waited until the last minute on some of these things, I think because we kind of got out of that groove from last year.”
Montz assures that the fair board is ready to welcome the public and give them the fun they’ve been missing this past year. Admission to the fair is $10 per day and $25 for a season pass with 10 and under admitted for free.
