A Crawfordsville couple returned home last Friday to find some foliage in their living room. 

Homeowners Jadyn Collins and Canon Speers left the residence Friday morning to sign mortgage papers for their home located at 204 Main Street and received a call from their neighbors at 5 p.m. notifying them that a tree had fallen on their house. A storm didn’t cause the tree to fall, but rain that came later took a toll on the house. Only the family dogs were home at the time of the incident and none sustained any injuries. Speers describes what the damage looked like from inside the house, “We got a hole through the ceiling into the living room and water pouring through there and onto the floor. It’s not as bad as it looks out here, inside, but with the water damage and stuff it’s gonna be a process.” 

After further inspection, Collins describes further damage caused to the inside of the house, “Our biggest thing was turning our electricity off. We had water pouring out of our light fixtures and down our walls. Our couches are soaked with water and our floor has standing water on our hardwood floors.”

Collins, Speers, their two kids and dogs are planning on finding temporary housing while repairs are being made on the home.
