The River Valley Conference recognized the top performers in the league on the softball diamond this summer and four Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks were among those selected.
Three Hawks were named to the All-South Division team. They include Myah Lugar. Lugar, the lone senior on this year’s team, hit .331 on the campaign. She finished with 42 hits, five for extra bases, 19 RBI, eight walks and nine runs scored. In the circle she led Mid-Prairie with 156 innings pitched, a 7-19 record, 6.24 ERA, striking out 87 batters and appearing in 31 games, 28 of them as the starter. She was a part of 112 games during her four year Mid-Prairie career.
Freshman Hannah Sellers was chosen for the All-South Division team. Sellers was selected for her work at and behind the plate as a catcher. She appeared in 35 games for the Hawks this year, hitting .355. Sellers had 38 total hits, seven for extra bases, driving in 16. She threw out 10 batters attempting to steal during the year, and committed just four errors all season at the catchers spot.
Mid-Prairie eighth grader Dakota Mitchell was an All-South Division pick at utility. She led Mid-Prairie with a .381 average, with a team best 43 total hits. She drove in 22, scored 22 times and walked 14 times. She also paced the Golden Hawks with 23 stolen bases on 25 attempts.
Golden Hawk junior Katelyn Schneider was an honorable mention all-RVC selection. Schneider was the Mid-Prairie third baseman for the year, appearing in all 40 games. She hit .348 with 40 total hits, 10 for extra bases, driving in a team best 28 and scoring 17 runs.
The Golden Hawks finished with a 10-30 overall record, falling in the opening round of the 3A regional tournament to No. 9 West Liberty.
