Fresh off of a walk-off blast a few days prior, the magic ran out for Lone Tree’s playoff baseball run when the Lions fell to the Lisbon Lions 7-1 in a class 1A district semifinal on Tuesday.
The home Lions settled in early with three runs in the first and tacked on a single tally in the third. Lone Tree cut it to 4-1 in the top of the sixth, but three more Lisbon runs in the bottom half put the game out of reach. Lisbon had eight hits led by Tyler Scott going 4-for-4. Hunter Clark threw a complete game giving up just three hits and one unearned tally. The three Lone Tree knocks belonged to Adam Knock, Cade Shield, and Alex Viner. Knock tossed all six frames surrendering seven runs (five earned) on eight hits and walking four.
Lisbon is now 23-13 on the season and advance to tomorrow’s district title game against Hillcrest Academy. Lone Tree closes the year 10-16 and they say goodbye to a pair of seniors in Viner and Aiden Forbes.
