Multiple fire departments responded to a shed fire west of Kalona early Friday morning.
Kalona Fire Chief Jerry Zahradnek says crews responded at 12:14 a.m. at 1190 Kiwi Avenue. Contents of the shed included hay, wood and other building materials. While the cause of the fire is hard to determine, Zahradnek believes the skid loader in the shed sparked the fire. The shed is considered a total loss with no damage to other property. No injuries or loss of livestock were reported. Washington, Wellman, and Riverside fire departments, Kalona QRS, Gingerich Excavator, and Bulltown Auto Repair also assisted at the scene.
