The Iowa High School Track and Field Coaches Association announced their academic all-state awards for the recently concluded 2021 season and a pair of Mid-Prairie boys were selected.
Clarke Latcham was a class 2A selection for his work on the track and in the classroom. Latcham was a member of four different events for the Golden Hawks that qualified for the 2021 state meet in Des Moines. He qualified individually in the 400m hurdles and also ran as part of the 4×200 team that finished 14th, the shuttle hurdle team that finished 17th and the 4×100 team that took 19th.
Luke Albright was also an academic all-state selection. He was a part of the Golden Hawk shuttle hurdle team that finished 17th in 2A at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
Academically the all-state standards are that the athlete must be a senior, with a cumulative GPA of 3.80 or higher, score better than a 28 cumulatively on the ACT and be a state meet qualifier or alternate in at least one event.
