A Washington man was arrested on weapons charges Friday.

At 9:08 p.m. the Washington County Communications Center received a call from a resident in the 300 block of East 3rd Street in Washington alleging that 28-year-old Murphy Lee Rutherford stole two guns from the residence. Rutherford left on foot, and the Washington Police Department and an Iowa Department of Natural Resources officer located Rutherford with the guns at the intersection of North 4th Avenue and East 7th Street. Rutherford is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, a class D felony. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
