The Washington Farmers Market has been partnering with local businesses this season to give out 100 free books each Thursday to families as part of their inaugural Farm Fables program.
Main Street Washington Director Sarah Grunewaldt says the program has been wildly successful so far, with all the books given away each week and at least 15 weeks of book sponsorships this season. Grunewaldt shares how many books they typically give to each family, “So we generally try to do one per family or one per child, it depends on what we have. We’ve been getting two different books each week at different reading levels so if you have an older and a younger child we’ll give them one of each.”
Grunewaldt recommends children come early to get a book as they run out fast, and the Washington Farmers Market takes place Thursdays from 5-7:30 p.m. through October 14th at Central Park.
