Six area softball players found themselves on all state softball teams recently released by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association including a pair of seniors that were named to the first team for the first time in their career.
Washington’s Kellie Dallmeyer had the top honor in class 4A and Winfield-Mt. Union’s Madie Anderson had the same distinction in class 1A. Dallmeyer transitioned to catcher for the Demons this year and in addition to being a lethal threat behind the dish, she also raked at the dish with a .529 batting average that ranked fifth in the state. The senior brought in 43 runs, had 64 hits, a .621 on base percentage, and broke a school record with eight home runs. Anderson pitched every single win for the Wolves in the last five years and this summer recorded a minuscule 0.58 ERA that was third in 1A. She pitched all 157 innings on the season and struck out 305 batters to only 22 walks.
Sigourney had a pair of players recognized with Carly Goodwin named to the second team and Kaylee Weber on the third team for class 1A. Goodwin ended the season with a 0.67 ERA that was fifth in the state and her opponent batting average of .088 was second. The freshman also led the team with a .495 average and 22 RBI. Weber did some damage at the plate with a .500 OBP, knocked in 36 runs, and had 14 extra base hits. Highland rounded out the area selections with Abbi Stransky on the third team and Sarah Burton as honorable mention. Stransky recorded a .346 on base percentage with 24 RBI and Burton led the squad with a .411 BA and scored 40 times.
