A pair of Hillcrest Academy Ravens have been wearing out the opposition on the basepaths, not only in 2021, but throughout their careers.
Raven senior Eli Ours wrapped up his career this season for Hillcrest and left his mark on the season and career record book. Ours turned in 23 stolen bases in 2021, fourth most in program history for a single season, placing just above Jeremy Pickard’s 1994 and behind his brother Cole Ours 2018 season. He was a perfect 23 of 23 in stolen base attempts in 2021. Eli Ours career total of 59 stolen bases ranks third in program history, behind Ryan Bontrager and ahead of current teammate Noah Miller. Ours is fourth on the career walks list in Hillcrest history with 66 in his time for the Ravens, placing him ahead of Jackson Brokaw and behind Riley Hochstedler. Ours is also sixth in Hillcrest history with 95 career runs scored, placing him in a tie with Jesse Ney.
Also a member of the this year’s Ravens, junior Noah Miller has begun to cement his place in the Hillcrest record books. In 2021 Miller swiped 32 bases, second most ever for the Ravens in a single season, trailing only Zach Grimm’s 33 in 1999, and ahead of Ledru Miller’s 28 in 1997. Miller’s career total of 55 already places him fourth on the all-time list behind teammate Eli Ours and ahead of Ledru Miller. The Ravens finished 2021 with a 14-10 overall record.
