The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team earned seven total all-conference selections for their work on the diamond in 2021.
Mid-Prairie senior Aidan Rath was an Elite All-RVC selection as a pitcher. On the mound, Rath compiled a 5-2 overall record in 30 innings with a 1.60ERA. Opponents hit just .103 against him, eighth best in 2A. He gave up just 11 total hits, seventh fewest in the state and struck out 63. At the plate, he led class 2A with 12 home runs. His 1.106 slugging percentage was second in the state. He hit .494 with 40 RBI, ninth most in Iowa on 57 total hits and scored 38 runs.
Senior catcher Vinnie Bowlin was also an Elite All-RVC pick behind the plate. Bowlin hit .330 with 29 total hits, 19 RBI and 15 runs scored. He committed just four errors all season ending with a .969% fielding percentage, eighth in the RVC and 122 put outs fourth most. He threw five innings with an 8.40 ERA.
Senior utility man Keegan Gingerich was an Elite team pick. Gingerich hit .398 for the year, fifth in the River Valley. He finished with 37 hits, 27 RBI, both fifth in conference and scored 17 times. On the mound, he worked 22 innings with a 4-1 record and 4.94 ERA, striking out 19 and allowing a .186 opponent batting average against him.
Freshman infielder Karson Grout was an Elite RVC selection. His .432 average was fourth in the River Valley with 41 total hits, second most, 33 RBI third most and 31 runs scored fourth most. On the mound he put together a 2-1 record with a 4.08 ERA. He worked 24 innings, striking out 31 and opponents hit .189 against him.
A pair of Golden Hawks landed on the All-South division team. Kayden Reinier was a south pick on the infield. The Mid-Prairie senior hit .372 with 35 total hits, sixth in the RVC, driving in 16 and scoring 44 times eighth most in 2A. He went 1-2 on the mound with a 3.50 ERA, working 26 innings, striking out 29 and opponents hit .297 against him.
Sophomore Cain Brown was also an All-South pick. Brown hit .350 for the year with 28 knocks, 26 runs scored and 11 driven in. He had a 1-0 record on the mound, working nine innings in relief with a 3.11 ERA. Brown played a stellar first base for the Hawks, committing just three errors on the season in 127 chances, working out to a .976 fielding percentage, fifth best in the RVC for those who had at least 100 chances on the year.
Junior Will Cavanagh was an honorable mention All-RVC pick. Cavanagh hit .280 for the year with 23 total hits, 17 runs scored and seven RBI. He committed just three errors all season in center field for a .939 fielding percentage, accounting for 44 put outs.
The Golden Hawks ended the season with with a 19-8 overall record. They were champions of the River Valley Conference South Division in the regular season before ending their year in the substate final.
