After three years on the job the Washington Public Library director is saying goodbye as she is soon to be the director for the Clear Lake Public Library.
A goodbye party was held for Bryna Walker Monday afternoon, though this week will be filled with applicant interviews for her potential successor, which she hopes will be chosen Thursday. Walker says she has learned a lot during her time in Washington coming from a school librarian background, and she has appreciated the experienced library staff that’s helped her along the way, “I’m looking forward to moving closer to home but yet it’s sad because I’ve met a lot of great friends here and it’s been a wonderful community to live in and such a great staff here at the library. So bittersweet feelings, hopefully I’ll have everything in place for the new director and that’s my goal for ending on Friday.”
There will be projects for the new director to pursue, as Walker mentions that they have applied for a Washington County Riverboat Foundation grant for their “library of things” health and wellness program. The library has also recently received a Brinton Trust grant for a children’s project, and is soon receiving new furniture for their teen area. Technical Services Librarian LeAnn Kunz will serve as the interim director.
