The Highland School District Superintendent will be shared again this school year but with a different district.
Ken Crawford officially joined the WACO School District on July 1st and will continue into his fourth year with Highland. Crawford is replacing Chris Armstrong who served as interim superintendent for WACO and was the superintendent for Highland prior to that. A Washington native, Crawford was initially hired by the Lone Tree district in 2017, and later became a shared superintendent with Highland and resigned from Lone Tree effective June 30th. Crawford says that the transition into WACO has been smooth and that the biggest thing is fitting into the system and figuring out how they operate best. He gives praise to the staff for their help during this time, “It’s been smooth and everybody has been super nice. So I can’t say enough about everybody’s patience, understanding and helping me out.”
Crawford shared that he’s very excited to get into the classrooms to meet and get to know the students. The shared agreement stipulates that he will spend 70% with Highland and 30% with WACO. Both districts will begin the school year on August 23rd.
