The 2021-22 academic year will be the last before change comes to the Southeast Iowa Superconference. Beginning in 2022-23, the conference will lose a member, with Cardinal moving west into the South Central Conference to join the likes of Albia, Centerville, Chariton, Clarke, Davis County, Eddyville-Blakesburg and Knoxville.
At that time the north and south divisions of the Superconference will make a swap. WACO will return to the north division of the Superconference. They were moved from north to the south division following the 2015-16 school year. They will rejoin KCII area schools Hillcrest Academy, Highland, Lone Tree, Columbus and Winfield-Mt. Union. Mediapolis will take the Warriors place in the south. They will be grouped in with Central Lee, Danville, Holy Trinity Catholic, Fairfield Maharishi, New London, Burlington Notre Dame, Van Buren and West Burlington.
