An Ainsworth man was recently ordered to serve 45 days in the Washington County Jail for violating his probation.
Court documents show that 27-year-old Jason Michael Nichols violated his probation on original charges of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony, and carrying weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor, for a July 22, 2020 incident. County Attorney John Gish tells KCII that he recommended that Nichols be placed in a residential treatment facility for 365 days or until maximum benefits have been achieved. Nichols will be given credit for time already served and shall continue on his probation. He was given suspended prison sentences of five years and two years, respectively, this past May through a plea agreement. Charges were dismissed for trafficking in stolen weapons, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon with intent to injure or provoke fear, both class C felonies, possession of contraband in a correctional institution, a class D felony, and fourth-degree theft, a serious misdemeanor.
