The Riverside City Council made further steps in plans for a new community center Monday.
After discussion of possible designs and budget, the council approved the overall concept for the community center. Carl A. Nelson assisted in the process of coming up with the proposed concepts. This was the last step for the council before they focus on funding and apply for grants. The concept drawings include two basketball courts, weight room and exercise studio on the first floor with a track and cardio fitness area on the second floor. The estimated square footage of the entire building sits around 30,000 square feet with total costs of over $7 million. These costs are estimated for a possible project start date of March 2023. The next step is holding an open work session with Carl A. Nelson and the council to review next steps.
