
A Mount Pleasant man who was arrested on sexual assault charges in March now faces a trial in federal court.
Henry County originally charged 40-year-old Victor Alberto Elias Rodriguez with two counts of third degree sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of a minor – cause to engage in an act, both class C felonies, and two counts of incest, a class D felony for incidents that allegedly occurred from February 19th to March 4th of this year. These charges have been dismissed as Elias Rodriguez has been taken into federal custody on a charge of production of child pornography. A first-time offender convicted of producing child pornography faces a statutory minimum of 15 years to 30 years maximum in prison. A jury trial is scheduled for August 30th in the U.S. Southern District of Iowa. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
