After COVID-19 cancelled last year’s contest, the 2021 Washington County Fair Queen is heading to Des Moines to represent at the Iowa State Fair.

Mid-Prairie Junior and Dutch Creek Flyers 4-H Club Member Carmen Sieren was crowned this year’s queen on July 18th during the Washington County Fair, and she tells KCII how she feels about competing to become the state fair queen, “I am a little bit nervous but also super excited to get to go meet all of those girls up there. I’m sure all of them will be super amazing so I’m excited and nervous at the same time.”

Sieren has also advanced to the state fair in static events in the family and consumer sciences division. The state fair queen competition takes place on Saturday, August 14th, and judging is based on personality, attitude, leadership, citizenship, contribution to community, overall appearance, charm, and poise.
