We are on to number seven in our top 10 countdown of the best sports stories from the 2020-21 academic year and for Washington the seventh best story takes us to the gridiron after a monstrous season from the Demon’s quarterback.
With the departure of three year starter Luke Turner, big shoes were to be filled for the incoming Demon’s signal caller and Trashaun Willis did all of that and then some. The senior was the definition of dual-threat by throwing for 907 yards with 12 touchdowns and added 523 on the ground with 13 more scores. For good measure, Willis even caught a pass and took it to the house. A three-year starter on defense, the 6’5’’ 250 pound linebacker finished second on the team in tackles with 37.5. Willis helped lead the Demons to an undefeated regular season, was named captain of the class 3A all state team, and was eventually named MVP of the Shrine Bowl last month.
The graduate will now take his talents to the next level, as he will play linebacker for the Grand View University football team this fall. Check back in tomorrow for number six on our countdown when we look at a record setting season on the soccer pitch.
