The Mid-Prairie East and West Elementary schools have welcomed a familiar and new face to their administrative team.

Former principal of East Elementary Robin Foster has taken over for Bill Poock as the principal for West Elementary with Greg Jergens now filling the role at East. Jergens is a first-year principal with 21 years of experience in teaching at Iowa Valley Schools where he also served as a coach for various sports. Having former principal Foster just down the road at West, Jergens says he feels very lucky to be working with someone who was once in his shoes, “Robin is literally my partner now. With being the principals of the two elementary schools we’ll work closely together. We’ll have a lot of similar initiatives and meetings and things like that. She’s a huge resource and we’re off to a great start.”

Jergens graduated with his Master’s degree in Administration from the University of Iowa in May. He says his family has already enjoyed getting involved in the community and hope to find a house in the Kalona area soon. Both East and West elementary schools are welcoming in students for the new year next week.
