A Washington man was arrested last week as part of an investigation into a drug selling ring.

On August 11th the Washington Police Department arrested 50-year-old Nicholas James Dittrich on a warrant for conspiracy to distribute more than five grams of methamphetamine, a class B felony. The criminal complaint states that on October 24, 2019, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 3000 block of Old White Way south of Ainsworth where Dittrich was living at the time with two other people. An ongoing investigation determined the three people were conspiring together to distribute methamphetamine throughout Washington County and southeast Iowa. The search found about 19 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging materials, U.S. currency, and a stolen handgun.

Bond was set at $25,000 cash only in Dittrich’s name only. One of the other conspirators, Curtis Anthony Cousins, was sentenced to 210 months in federal prison this April for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in the furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
