The fourth biggest sports story at Hillcrest Academy from the 2020-21 school year takes us to the golf course. The Hillcrest boys golf team had a big season, and finished it with an exclamation point, qualifying for the district tournament. The Raven roster this season included Jace Rempel, London Schrock, Alex Niemeyer, Josiah Beachy, Luke Schrock and was guided by first year head coach Phil Schintler.
The Ravens rolled to start the year, beating Highland, Louisa-Muscatine and Wapello head-to-head and then finishing second behind Mediapolis in a quad meet at Blue Top Ridge in Riverside. Hillcrest would also beat Columbus in a dual later in the season. The Ravens were fifth at the Central Lee Invitational at Green Acres in Donnellson before posting a sixth place finish of 14 schools at the Superconference Tournament at Sheaffer Memorial Park in Fort Madison.
In the sectional round of the 1A playoffs, the Ravens traveled to North English, finishing fourth of seven schools competing. Their team score of 367 was good enough to move them on to the district round of the tournament, the first time the program had advanced through the opening round of the playoffs as a team since 2005 and the first time they had posted a winning season since that same year. In the sectional tournament, London Schrock led Hillcrest with his round of 86, Rempel shot 87, Luke Schrock 92, Beachy 102 and Niemeyer 115. Once at districts, Hillcrest finished eighth with a score of 391. Rempel led the way with a 90, London Schrock carded two birdies and ended at 91, Luke Schrock 97, Beachy 113 and Niemeyer 136.
